FAQs for Supervision

Who can receive supervision?

Supervision through Muzique, LLC is provided to new Music Therapy professionals and new private practice business owners who have been in the field less than 5 years, as well as Music Therapy students/interns who are currently or planning to attend school for music therapy.

Where is supervision done?

All supervision is done via Zoom, right from the comfort of your own home or office!

What are the benefits to supervision?

The benefits of supervision include enhanced accountability, increased feeling of support, development of professional skills and improved efficiency. Supervision is also associated with decreased feelings of isolation and role ambiguity. It allows space and time to reflect on practice, professional identity and to develop a wider view of the area that therapists work in. You can learn more about clinical supervision in mental health here.

How Long is supervision and how much does it cost?

Supervision for professionals is $50 for 30 minutes. This time is 1-on-1 and can be a one time session or regularly scheduled (discount packages available, please contact Karly at karly.muzalier@muzique.org before completing the registration).

Supervision vs. Therapy:

Both supervision and therapy provide collaboration, no judgement, confidentiality, a reflective space, and are solution focused. The biggest difference is that supervision focuses more on monitoring how the therapist/student is functioning as a professional, where therapy focuses on how the therapist/student is functioning as a person, mental health wise. Supervision focuses on prevention of burn out or other possible and predictable issues that may arise, while therapy is actively seeking mental health and processing the emotions that come with it. Supervision and therapy can work side by side when provided by two separate professionals.
